I don't mind a game that is built slowly, but why is CCP wasting so much time on the PS3? By the time this game has what it needs to succeed on the PS3 version, it will be long overdue for a PS4 release. I like to think CCP is prepared for lackluster server numbers for awhile. I want this game to succeed and I can wait a couple of years for everything, but not if all the work is being done for the PS3. I can't understand why a company who plans a game to last for the next decade isn't focusing all it's resources on building a game for and around the PS4. The sooner experience is gain for the next gen, the better. Maybe that's why things are moving so slow..... maybe most of their attention is on a PS4 version, one can only hope.
Let me use my limited English skills to show you something: The PlayStation 3 is about 6,5 years old, and there are around 77 Million PS3s on the marked, and the Numbers are still growing. Seeing this numbers you can tell, that Sony sold average 11 Million PS3s per year. If you break this numbers even more apart you will have something around 1 million per month. The 1 million per month is a theory. Sony as god as never sold one million per month in the first two years due to the very high cost at the PS3 lunch. IGÇÖm sorry but I have no numbers per month, especial the year of 2006 and 2007 would be very interesting.
Considering that the PS4 is cheaper that the PS3, you still can hardly sell more than one million per month due to the assembly lines. We donGÇÖt know how many lines Sony have, we donGÇÖt know when Sony will start the production. But there are expected numbers between one and three million PS4s at lunch worldwide. (Worldwide, NOT America only) And an estimated production of one million PS4s after the lunch per month. In other words, if you produce a game, you do it with the motivation to earn money (as a company at last). Where do you think it the biggest marked? Of course it is the PS3 for now any many years after. If your game sucks, you can still earn a lot of money on the PS3 with it. If your game is average you can earn less money on the PS4 with it.
One more thing (it does not concern Dust514, this is only for information): Keep in mind that lunch titles are as good as never lucrative. There is not enough hardware to make profit. By the time that there could be enough PS4s on the marked for the games to make some profit, no one will be interested in buying the lunch titles or at least there is enough variety for gamers to NOT to buy a lunch title GÇ£be course there is nothing elseGÇ¥.
TL;TR: There are way more PS3s out there than PS4s, a flop could generate more money on the PS3 than a hit on the ps4. |
